New Orleans, La.- The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team won their second consecutive conference match, defeating Brewton-Parker College 25-4, 25-9, and 25-19 in three sets on Saturday in The Den for Family Weekend.
“It was a nice conference win for us at home on Family Weekend. We ran our offense and stayed aggressive. We minimized our errors and were able to separate from them on the scoreboard. It was nice that everyone played in the match which is great for our confidence. It also gave us a chance to see some new combinations,” said Loyola head coach Tommy Harold.
The Pack’s stunning offense was led by freshman outside hitters Katie Hamilton who had 12 kills and sophomore Lauren Brand who notched seven. Loyola’s attack combined for a total of 40 kills in the match. Freshman setter Haley Crane recorded 17 assists and senior setter Sam Worsham tabbed 14.
Freshman outside hitter Lehu Barrett led the BPC attack with 10 kills. Defensively, junior libero Desiree Kendrick recorded eight digs. Loyola limited Brewton-Parker to just 17 total kills in all three sets, and dropped the Barons to 1-5 in conference play and 4-8 overall.
Loyola, now 3-4 in conference and 11-4 overall, will face top SSAC opponent Lee University on Friday at 7pm in The Den. Ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, Lee is riding a five-match win streak, with their only SSAC loss coming from Spring Hill College in a grueling five sets. They are 14-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
After Friday’s tilt against Lee, the Pack will then take on Faulkner University at 7pm in The Den on Saturday, Oct. 6th, and finish off the homestand with Tougaloo College at 7pm on Tuesday, Oct. 9th at 7pm.
