Loyola volleyball downed by conference leader Spring Hill

(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team fell short to SSAC-leading Spring Hill College 18-25, 14-25, 22-25 in their final home match of the season in The Den.

The Pack (8-18, 5-8 SSAC) managed to rally in the third set, coming close to forcing a fourth, but the Badgers (26-3, 11-0 SSAC) fought off Loyola’s 16-13 lead and held strong to end the match in their favor. Sophomore Eva Allen paced the Wolf Pack offense, turning in 11 kills. Junior Lauren Brand aided the attack, tallying seven kills on 18 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Senior Sabrina Stansberry added six kills and one ace.

Senior Sha Sha Buchanan powered the Badgers offense, going 11 for 16 in kills for a .688 hitting percentage and notching one ace. Freshman Madison Seuzeneau posted 10 kills while sophomore Sami Hantak recorded eight. With tonight’s victory, Spring Hill remains undefeated in conference play. The Badgers recently received 57 votes in the seventh regular season edition of the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 poll.

Loyola will travel to Southern University New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 26 for their next regular season contest at 6 p.m.
