MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola volleyball team competed in their first SSAC Cross-Over Friday afternoon falling to undefeated Lee University 2-3 in a thrilling match. The loss moves the Wolfpack to 3-3 on the season, while the Flames improve to 6-1.
“The team stepped up their defense today,” said head coach Tommy Harold. “We saw a few things on film this week and worked on making adjustments on our side of the net. These adjustments allowed us to elevate our game and take the number two nationally ranked team to the limit. The next step will be to get over the hump in the 5th set. If we continue to make progress day to day I am confident this is a step we will take very soon.”
Leading the ‘Pack was senior co-captain Gina Kill with 18 kills. Sophomore Sabrina Stansberry added to the front line with 10, while freshman Lauren Brand continues to make her mark contributing 8 kills to the bunch.
Loyola returns to action Saturday morning for the final day of the Cross-Over when they take on Shorter University at 10 a.m. and then Brewton-Parker College at 1 p.m. The match against shorter will be broadcast on the SSAC website at http://www.ssacsports.com/f/Live_Stream.php.
