Loyola volleyball gears up for weekend home stand, will host Girl Scout Day on Saturday

New Orleans, La. – Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team returns home to The Den with a five-match home stand, beginning with conference opponents Coastal Georgia at 7pm on Friday and Brewton-Parker at 2pm on Saturday. Saturday’s tilt marks Girl Scout Day with the Wolf Pack conducting a free clinic after the match.

Currently 1-4 in conference play and 9-4 overall, Loyola has improved to 6th in digs per game (19.130) within the NAIA, and 15th in service aces per game (2.190). Sam Worsham leads the team and SSAC with 31 service aces. Eva Allen leads the team’s attack with 95 kills, and Worsham has recorded 404 assists. Defensively, Becca Burnnett has 201 digs while Sabrina Stansberry has 27 blocks.

College of Coastal Georgia is 8-9 overall and 2-1 in SSAC play. They are riding a three-match win streak with their most recent victories over Southeastern University, and SSAC members Brenau University and Truett-McConnell College last week.

In the NAIA the Mariners rank 27th as a team in total service aces (120) and 48th in service aces per game (1.900). Lindsay Herman leads the Coastal Georgia attack in service aces (26), as well as kills (177). Amanda Kline and Holly Hammer are tied for second on the team with 107 kills apiece. Defensively, Herman holds down the number one spot for Coastal Georgia with 166 digs, while MK White has tabbed 48 blocks at the net.

The Pack will take on Brewton-Parker, currently 1-3 in conference play and 4-6 overall. The Barons have taken a loss to No. 6 Lee University, Southern Wesleyan University, and Brenau University in the SSAC, while taking a win from Truett-McConnell College.

Desiree Kendrick has put up 30.5 blocks along with 72 digs to lead Brewton-Parker’s defense. The Barons’ attack is led by Lahau Barrett who has recorded 79 kills and Lauren Wilson who has 9 service aces.

Saturday, Sept. 29th is also Girl Scout Day at The Den. All girl scouts will receive $2 admission to the match which includes some instruction from the Wolf Pack volleyball team in a clinic that will immediately follow the conclusion of the match.
