NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball program will honor 12 members of the All-Decade Team during intermission of Saturday’s game against the University of New Orleans at 1 p.m. in The Den.
The members of the All Decade Team are as follows:
Kelly Fridge played for the Wolfpack from 2002-06 and is the career leader in digs. The former captain was an All-Conference selection for Loyola.
Gina Gill is the only active member of the team. The current captain of the Wolfpack, Gill is currently third all time in kills and is a two-time All-Conference selection. She was also named All-Louisiana as a sophomore.
Amanda Gillard appeared for the maroon and gold from 2000-03. She is seventh all-time in kills and ranks second in aces.
Sarah Howard, who played from 2004-08, is the all-time leader in assists. The three time All-Conference honoree owns the top two spots on the single season assist list for Loyola.
Shannon LaHaie, who played from 2001-04, is third in all time blocks and fifth all time in kills. She was a three time All-Conference selection during her career.
Colleen McNerney was a NAIA Scholar Athlete and ranks seventh in all time kills in Loyola history. McNerney played for the Wolfpack from 2004-07.
Danielle Posey ranks fourth on the all time block list. She competed for the Wolfpack from 2005-07.
Suzi Ruzi was a four year letter winner for the Wolfpack from 2000-03. She is the all time leader in aces and is second on the all time assist list behind Howard. Ruiz was a three time All-Conference selection.
Maggie Schaefer is the lone member of the All-Decade team to be in the Loyola Hall of Fame. In four seasons for the Wolfpack, she was named NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and was a four-time All-Conference selection. She has the highest hitting percentage in Loyola history and is second on the all-time kill list.
Mary Seals appeared for the Wolfpack from 2004-08 and broke Schaefer’s all time kill record during her career. She was named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association three times. Seals was also a four time All-Conference selection.
Missy Showalter played for Loyola from 2000-02. She completed her three year career 10th on the Loyola all time kill list.
Tiffany Stafford anchored the back row for the Wolfpack from 2003-07 and was named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Stafford, an All-Conference honoree, set the single season record for digs and ranks third all time.
Saturday’s game also marks Girl Scouts Day. The volleyball team will give a free clinic to Girl Scouts after the contest.
