(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team will welcome two SSAC opponents to The Den this weekend as they take on Emmanuel College on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. and Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
The Wolf Pack (3-11, 1-2 SSAC) is coming off a loss to conference leader Spring Hill College. Sophomore Eva Allen powered the offense with nine kills and continues to lead the team with 128 on the season, averaging 2.6 per game. Sophomore libero Kaylin Storey paces the defense with 151 digs, while senior Sabrina Stansberry tops the blocking effort with 31.
The fifth place Emmanuel Lions (12-5, 2-1 SSAC) nabbed a four set victory over Columbia College on Tuesday. Freshman Cali Jones posted an impressive 15 kills. Attack leader sophomore Megan Bright yields 3.6 kills a game and has excelled at the net with 53 blocks this year.
The Warriors of Southern Wesleyan (15-7, 3-0 SSAC) remain third in the SSAC despite falling to Shorter University in a five set heartbreaker Tuesday evening. Junior Cherilyn Ramsey recorded 14 kills and leads her squad with 261 total. Sophomore setter Megan Widener aids the offense with 840 assists.
Loyola will feature special promotions at each match this weekend. Friday is Sorority Night at The Den. The sorority that turns in the greatest attendance at the match will earn a pizza party for their chapter. As the Saturday afternoon game falls on Family Weekend, Wolf Pack fans are encouraged to bring their loved ones along to enjoy the contest.
