(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team seeks continued conference success as they host Bethel University on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. and Martin Methodist College on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. in The Den.

The Wolf Pack (4-13, 2-4 SSAC) is coming off an SSAC victory over the Belhaven Blazers Tuesday evening. Offensive leader sophomore Eva Allen achieved a personal best 16 kills versus the Blazers. She remains first in kills and service aces for Loyola. Senior Sabrina Stansberry is coming off back to back matches reaching double digits in kills. Defensively, she holds the team’s top spot in blocking with 37 on the year. Freshman setter Daniela Leal paces the squad with 472 assists, while Becca Burnett steadies the defense with 191 digs.

Evenly matched with the Pack are the Bethel Wildcats (5-13, 2-4 SSAC). Bethel visits The Den following a 3-0 win over Williams Baptist College. Sophomore Anagila Silva serves as an all-around team leader for the Wildcats, commanding her squad in kills, aces and digs through the first half of the season.

Martin Methodist College (2-12, 0-6 SSAC) remains winless in conference action and most recently fell to non-conference opponent Dalton State College. The young Red Hawks offense is led by freshman Gloria Watson, posting 218 kills to date. She’s helped by sophomore assist leader Sophia Paes and sophomore Sunny Grohman who’s earned the team’s highest marks in aces and blocks.

Friday’s contest will be recognized as the inaugural Loyola volleyball domestic violence awareness match. In an effort to educate spectators about this issue, flyers and pamphlets will be distributed as well as ribbons to be worn in support of awareness. Wolf Pack fans are encouraged to wear lavender and teal in promotion of this cause.

Following the match on Saturday, the Wolf Pack will host Girl Scout Day, featuring a volleyball clinic for members of local girl scout troops. Girl scouts in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in volleyball drills and activities instructed by the Loyola volleyball team and coaching staff.
