Loyola volleyball journeys to Georgia for conference weekend

(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team will travel to Georgia this weekend to face conference opponents College of Coastal Georgia on Friday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. CDT and Brewton-Parker College on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. CDT.

The Wolf Pack (5-15, 3-6 SSAC) is coming off a 1-3 loss to the SSAC third ranked University of Mobile (14-9, 7-1 SSAC). Three Loyola hitters put on an impressive performance against the Rams. Senior Sabrina Stansberry along with sophomores Kaitlin Mohr and Eva Allen combined for 31 kills. Allen leads the team in kills with 196, averaging 2.8 per game. She also holds the team’s top spot in service aces, recording 27 on the year. Freshman setter Daniela Leal aids the offense with eight assists per game while junior Becca Burnett secures the passing squad with 248 digs this season.

Coastal Georgia (14-9, 5-3 SSAC) defeated Brewton-Parker on Tuesday. Sophomore Kara Neisen led the offensive attack with 12 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. She leads the Mariners with 249 kills this year. Freshman setter Cayley Meiners tallied 27 assists and improved to a team leading 604 on the season.

Brewton-Parker (2-12, 0-2 SSAC) remains in the hunt for their first conference victory. Freshman Rosalie Keck led the offense versus the Mariners, turning in 14 kills and adding to her team high total of 126. Keck also leads the blocking effort for the Barons with 23 this year. The Brewton-Parker defense is stabilized by senior Lauren Wilson who’s turned in 198 total digs. She also holds the team lead in aces with 13.
