(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team will open the 2013 season with its first scheduled preseason practice on Friday, August 9 at 4 p.m. in The Den. This is head coach Margot Frederick’s inaugural season with the Wolf Pack.
“The off-season provides a team an opportunity to establish fitness habits and prepare for the upcoming season,” said Frederick. “I appreciate that several players stayed in New Orleans during the summer and have already made noticeable efforts in displaying their commitment to the team. The next step will be working together to discover what we must do to have a successful year.”
The Wolf Pack will welcome 12 returners including seniors Sabrina Stansberry, Katie Broadbent, Shelby Plant and Libby Collyer, juniors Tiffany Walker, Lauren Brand, Kara Nishimuta and Becca Burnett, and sophomores Eva Allen, Kate Hamilton, Kaitlin Mohr and Kaylin Storey. New additions include freshmen Wren Overesch, Katie Philippi and Daniela Leal.
“I’m excited about the talents each player brings to the table,” Frederick stated. “They are coming off a season that had many positives and those winning expectations will be helpful in our transition together.”
Loyola will open the 2013 season in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament on August 23 and 24, followed by the St. Thomas Tournament in Houston, Texas on August 30 and 31.
