(Montgomery, Ala.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team collected three awards at the SSAC Championship Banquet on Thursday.
Sophomore Eva Allen was named to the SSAC All-Conference Second Team. The Oakland, Calif. native led the Wolf Pack in kills and aces this season. This year, she recorded a season-high 16 kills versus Belhaven on Oct. 1 and Southern University New Orleans on Oct. 26. She racked up a career high seven aces against Texas College on Aug. 23. Allen concluded the 2013 season with 276 kills and 37 aces.
Freshman setter Daniela Leal earned SSAC All-Freshman Team honors. The first year from Miami, Fl. tallied 953 assists in her debut season with the Wolf Pack. Leal racked up a career high 57 assists when Loyola faced SUNO in Oct. She turned in a personal best six kills versus Texas College and five aces at St. Thomas-Houston in an early season tournament.
Senior Libby Collyer was selected as an NAIA Champions of Character recipient. Collyer, a three-year member of the Loyola volleyball team from Colleyville, Texas, collected career highs in kills (7) and blocks (7) this season versus SUNO. At the conclusion of three seasons, she notched 31 kills, 15 digs and 13 total blocks. This is Collyer’s second Champions of Character award. She received the honor as a member of the Loyola women’s basketball team during her freshman year. Collyer will graduate in May with a degree in psychology/pre-health.
