(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team came through with a surge of energy in the third set but couldn’t hold on as they fell to conference opponent Emmanuel College in The Den 17-25, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25.
The Wolf Pack (3-12, 1-3 SSAC) scuffled through the first two sets, but earned a victory in the third with the help of the night’s top hitters, sophomore Eva Allen and junior Lauren Brand. Allen turned in 13 kills on the evening with Brand adding 10. Additionally, Allen added one solo block and two block assists to the offensive effort. Senior Sabrina Stansberry posted eight kills on 15 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. Junior libero Becca Burnett steadied the passing team with 18 digs off a strong Emmanuel serving squad who finished the contest with 16 aces.
The Lions (12-5, 2-1 SSAC) battled back from a struggle in the third to steal the fourth set and the win. Senior Lindsey Fragale dominated the Emmanuel offense, recording a season high 19 kills. Sophomore Megan Bright joined Fragale in double digits with 10.
Loyola returns to action in The Den tomorrow afternoon as they host Southern Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Wolf Pack fans are encouraged to bring their family and friends as Loyola celebrates Family Weekend.
