New Orleans, La - The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team received 24 votes in the NAIA Volleyball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, which was released Sept. 4th.

Riding an eight-match win-streak, Loyola set the mark for the most victories to start a season after sweeping four matches at the University of St. Thomas Tournament last weekend. The previous mark was set in 2008 when the Pack recorded six consecutive victories.

The last time Loyola received votes in the Top 25 Poll was in August 2009. After earning a share of the 2008 GCAC regular-season title (17-9), the Pack received one vote in the 2009 NAIA Preseason Poll and went on to 20-15 season.

No. 6 Lee University is the only other team from the Southern States Athletic Conference mentioned in the Coaches’ Poll. Loyola is scheduled to face Lee one month from today at The Den on October 5th at 7pm.

“The girls are doing a great job so far this year,” Head Coach Tommy Harold noted. “Despite not getting to practice all week because of the hurricane, they still came out ready to play this past weekend. They have continued to work hard this week in preparation for the start of conference next week.”

Loyola will begin conference play on the road next week, facing conference rival University of Mobile on Sept. 11th at 7:30 pm in Mobile, Alabama.
