NEW ORLEANS, La. – After competing in the first SSAC Cross-Over last weekend, the Loyola volleyball team (4-4, 1-2) travels back to Mobile Tuesday to take on the undefeated Spring Hill Badgers (15-0, 3-0) at 7 p.m.

“We are excited to play our first match against SSAC West competition,” said head coach Tommy Harold. “This past weekend the team made progress and raised our level of play. We will have to continue to play at a high level to compete with a strong Badger team on the road. Our early season schedule has been tough by design to prepare us for the challenges we will face during our conference schedule.”

Last weekend, the Wolfpack opened their conference schedule with a victory over Brewton-Parker College (5-5, 0-3) but fell to NAIA number two ranked Lee University (7-2, 2-1) and Shorter University (11-3, 2-1). Loyola started the weekend with a heart breaking 2-3 loss to Lee (18-25, 25-18, 25-23, 18-25, 15-8). On Saturday, the ‘Pack picked up a big conference win against Brewton-Parker (25-17, 25-14, 25-14) but fell short against Shorter (13-25, 22-25, 23-25). Senior outside hitter Gina Gill racked up 36 kills and hit .274 for the weekend. The Baton Rouge native also notched a pair of double-doubles giving her a total of six for the season with 14 kills and 13 digs against Shorter and 16 kill and 12 digs versus Lee.

The Badgers will be playing in their fourth home conference match on Tuesday. The ‘Pack leads the all-time series 20-6, and Spring Hill has only won one match against Loyola in the past three years. Senior Yiting Cao leads the Badgers racking up 251 total kills this season. The 6-0 Shanghai native ranks number one in the NAIA in kills per set (5.340) and 6th in total service aces (33).

Spring Hill comes into Tuesday after the SSAC Cross-Over going 3-0 downing Lee (3-2) while also defeating Shorter (3-1) and Brewton-Parker (3-0).
