Loyola volleyball sets mark for best start to season

Houston, Texas.-   The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team set the mark for most victories to start a season as the Wolf Pack extended their streak to eight matches with a pair of wins today at the University of St. Thomas Tournament.

In the first match, the ‘Pack eclipsed the mark for most wins to start a season as Loyola defeated Montana Tech 17-25, 25-22, 19-25, 28-26, 15-12 for their seventh straight victory.  Eva Allen had a team high 15 kills with Kailey Tuthill adding 12.  Becca Burnett led the defense with 22 digs.  Tuthill had 21 digs and Allen added 20 digs to assist with the defense. 

In the final match of the tourney, Loyola secured their eighth consecutive win with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-15 win over St. Catharine’s of Kentucky.  Allen led with nine kills with Lauren Brand and Kaitlin Mohr each adding eight kills to lead the Wolf Pack (8-0) attack.  Defensively, Sam Worsham topped with effort with 16 digs.  She also had a team high three service aces.

The previous mark for most wins to start a season was in 2008 when Loyola rattled off six victories.
