New Orleans, La. – Loyola head volleyball coach Tommy Harold announced the signing of Shelby Plant from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, TX.
Plant, a 6-0 opposite/middle blocker, led Alamo Heights to the Bi-District Championships and Area Finalist the last 4 years. Plant was awarded Academic All-District as well as the Volleyball "Mule Pride" award for 4 years of consistent leadership, work ethic and team spirit on and off the court.
Plant also played club volleyball for six years starting in both Right Side and Middle positions on her Extec National Teams. Her 2009 Extec Club team was a Regional Qualifier, and ranked 16th starting the 2010 season. She is expected to vie for a role as a middle blocker or opposite hitter for the Wolfpack next season.
“I am extremely excited to have Shelby join our program,” said Harold. “Her versatility will give us a few different looks as we seek to win another conference championship. Her ability to hit from different locations along the net will add to our offense and her blocking presence will bolster our defense. Equally important to her play on the court, her personality and leadership qualities are a great fit for Loyola. ”
