NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola volleyball team (2-1) will hit the road this week to take on the University of West Alabama (4-0). The Wolfpack and the Tigers face off in Livingston, Ala. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.
"The match against West Alabama should be another good test for the team," said head coach Tommy Harold. "We have been making progress in practice and look forward to a challenging pre-conference schedule to prepare for the conference opener on Sept. 16. We are still trying to find our rhythm and see which players are ready to step up at certain positions."
Last weekend the ‘Pack split a pair of matches at the Trinity Fall Classic in San Antonio, Texas against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (3-0) and Trinity University (2-3). Loyola senior Gina Gill led the offense in the tournament with 42 kills, and senior Amanda Oldani recorded 36 digs. In only the second week of her college competition, freshman Lauren Brand registered an impressive 23 kills for the tournament.
West Alabama comes in undefeated so far on the season, shutting out three of their four opponents at the Christian Brothers Tournament in Memphis, Tenn. The Tigers return six seniors and two sophomores from a season ago.
