(New Orleans, La.) - Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will compete at the SSAC Conference Tournament against Emmanuel College on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery, Alabama.
Loyola (11-15) concluded the regular season losing to Auburn University Montgomery 54-53 on Saturday. The loss dropped the Pack to fifth in the SSAC West standings. Janeicia Neely led the Wolf Pack with 15 points and a team high eight rebounds. Katie Youngblood added 12 points. Loyola converted 38.3% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 57.1% from the free throw line.
Emmanuel (16-10) won their final conference game of the season against their rival Southern Wesleyan University 57-53 on Saturday afternoon. A steal late in the game by Lions’ Kaylyn Young drew a foul from the Wesleyan Warriors allowing Joreshica Martin to score two points for the Lions with 10 seconds left to secure the victory. Emmanuel is ranked fourth in the SSAC East going into the conference tournament.
The Wolf Pack is led by junior Jasmine Brewer who averages 13.8 points per game on a 50.2% shooting from the field. She ranks 36th in NAIA averaging 8.6
rebounds per game.
The Lion’s Kaylyn Young leads the team scoring averaging 15.6 points per game on a 34.7% shooting from the field. Joreshica Martin leads the team rebounds averaging 7.1 rebounds per game.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals against the top seed from the West Divsion, Faulkner University (25-5), at 4:30 p.m.
