(Kansas City, Mo.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team received a season-high 29 votes in the most recent NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. This is the fifth consecutive week the Wolf Pack has received votes.
Last week, the Wolf Pack received six votes. Loyola garnered 29 nods this week after defeating Spring Hill and #19 Bethel University. The Wildcats held the #18 spot at the time of the Loyola overtime victory and were bumped down one spot in the rankings as a result.
Loyola (19-9, 13-5 SSAC) ranks 11th in Division I in total three-point field goals made (197), 12th in three-point field goal percentage (34.7), 19th in three-point field goals made per game (7.03) and 19th in defensive rebounds per game (29.21).
The Wolf Pack has won 13 of their last 16 contests including 11 against conference opponents and four versus ranked squads. Over the course of the season, they have been victorious over the following teams who were ranked as such at the time of each victory: #18 Bethel, #20 Southern Polytechnic State University, #23 Emmanuel College, #23 University of Mobile, #24 Lyon College and #21 Martin Methodist. They are currently tied with Martin Methodist, Mobile and Bethel for first place in the SSAC West division.
Loyola will travel to Belhaven for their final road game of the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 27 with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
