(New Orleans, La.) - The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team defeated Brewton-Parker College 67-46 Saturday afternoon in The Den.
The Wolf Pack took the lead for good in the contest on a free throw from Adrian Easley with 16:13 remaining in the first half. Loyola enjoyed their largest advantage of the period at the 4:50 mark as Janeicia Neely converted a pair of free throws to extend the margin to 19-11. The Pack would lead 28-21 at the half.
Loyola took command in the second half outscoring the Barons 39-25 and enjoyed their first double digit lead with 15:52 to play with a jumper by Neely making the score 38-27. Later, Rebekah Greer gave the Wolf Pack a 20 point advantage with 9:14 with a three pointer to make the score 53-33. Shayne Charles provided Loyola with a 22 point lead, the largest lead of the game, with a bucket off an assist from Neely with 1:03 left in the contest.
Senior Megen Berner and junior Jasmine Brewer led the Wolf Pack offensively. Berner scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double double of the season. Brewer scored a game high 18 points and had 8 rebounds. Loyola had three scorers in double digits today as Neely rounded out the leaders with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a season high 7 assists.
The Lady Barons fall to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play with the loss. Senior Crystal Nwaopara led Brewton-Parker with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Loyola (2-2, 1-1 SSAC) returns to action against Louisiana College on November 21st in Pineville. Tip off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
