(New Orleans, La.) Head women’s basketball coach Kellie Kennedy has announced the signing of point guard Jackie Anderson to the Loyola University New Orleans signing class of 2013.
Anderson will join the Pack from Antonian College Preparatory High School in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Anderson is a four year varsity player and three year captain for Antonian. Anderson led the 2012-2013 team to a 31-6 overall record and a District Championship while leading the team scoring (12.6 ppg), assists, blocks, and three point shooting. She ranked second on the squad in steals.
As a freshman for head coach Koby Cantu, she helped her team win a district championship and appear in the Texas State Final Four. As a junior, Anderson was named to 1st Team All-District and to the TABC All-State team. Her senior year Anderson racked up awards as an All-State honoree by the TABC and TAPPS. She earned All-District honors for the third consecutive season. She was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Team prior to the season. She was invited to play in the San Antonio All Star team tournament which will take place in May.
She plays AAU basketball for the team San Antonio’s Finest where she was coached by Ray Caldwell. She has been a member of the team for the past six years, while playing tournaments around the country.
In addition to her stellar play on the court, Anderson has been an exemplary student off of it. She earned the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association’s award for Academic Athlete of the Year in 2013. She was also named to the TAPPS All-Academic team as a junior and senior.
“I am really excited to welcome Jackie to the Wolf Pack. She is such a great fit at Loyola and embodies the definition of student-athlete. She can handle the ball and score and has the ability to step in and contribute immediately. She is a consummate worker on and off the court and I am looking forward to coaching her for the next four years.”
Anderson is the second player to ink a letter of intent for the Loyola women’s basketball team as she joins Caroline Gonzalez in the Pack’s 2013 signing class.
