(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will head to Montgomery, Ala. for a conference weekend featuring a match up with Faulkner University on Friday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Tine Davis Gymnasium and a Saturday afternoon contest with Auburn University Montgomery in the Physical Education Complex for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
The Wolf Pack (2-1) set a new school record during their 108-70 victory over Fisk University, recording the most points scored in a game in Loyola women’s basketball history. Sophomore Shayne Charles and junior Megan Whittaker collected 17 points apiece. Charles knocked down all three of her three-point shots taken. She led the team with eight rebounds on the afternoon. Whittaker chipped in with three boards. Junior Janeicia Neely contributed 14 points to the win, going five for seven from the field and two for two from the line. She tallied a team-high nine assists.
Faulkner (2-1) fell to Talladega College on Monday evening. The 14th ranked Lady Eagles suffered a 68-75 upset to the Tornadoes despite senior Christina Hayes recording a career and program record 40 points. She leads her squad with a 20 points per game average, 10 rebounds per contest and four blocks on the season. Senior Sonja Vuong paces the Lady Eagles with a team-leading 11 assists and four steals.
AUM (3-0) took down Reinhardt University 59-49 last week. Junior Tina Odume has earned a .600 field goal percentage in three games played. Additionally, she leads the Warhawks in rebounds (24) and blocks (3). Junior Jazmine Jackson ranks first on the team in assists with 13 while junior Shanice Burnette has notched eight steals.
