Loyola women’s basketball takes to road against Belhaven

Jasmine Brewer, the Pack's leading scorer, hopes to have success against Blazers

(New Orleans, La.) - The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will travel to Jackson, Mississippi for a conference rematch against the Belhaven University Blazers. Tip off for Thursday night at the Rugg Arena is set for 5:30 p.m.

In Saturday’s game in The Den against Faulkner University, freshman Katie Youngblood led the Pack with a career high 17 points. In addition to her 17 points, Youngblood grabbed a career high nine rebounds. She converted 3 of 7 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free throw line. In her final home game, senior Adrienne Easley matched her career highs with 12 points and three steals. Sophomore Janeicia Neely also finished with 12 points.

The Wolf Pack is currently ranked in fourth place in the SSAC West conference with an overall record of 11-13 and a conference record of 8-8.

The Belhaven Blazers (12-15, 9-7) are currently ranked 3rd in the SSAC West conference standings. Senior Alisha Rayborn lead the Blazers to their last victory over conference rival William Carey. Rayborn scored 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists to help the team to victory.

In the last conference match-up between the Blazers and the Wolf Pack the Blazers’ senior Rayborn made the final shot with 1.3 seconds left to defeat the Pack in their first game between the two teams in The Den. The Pack’s junior Jasmine Brewer leads Loyola in scoring averaging 14.6 points per game. The Blazers sophomore Ashley Wakefield leads the Blazers in scoring averaging 13.4 points per game.
