(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will aim for their third straight win on Thursday, Jan. 30 when they travel to Spring Hill College for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
The Wolf Pack (13-7, 7-3 SSAC) received three votes in the latest NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. They’ve won seven of their last eight contests including last week’s victory over #23 University of Mobile.
Senior Jasmine Brewer and freshman Kylah Jones were the leading scorers in Saturday’s win over William Carey University. Brewer was recently named the SSAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. She topped the rebounding effort versus the Crusaders with five boards and leads the Pack in points per game (14.10) rebounds per game (8.40) and steals per game (1.85).
Junior Megan Whittaker contributed 12 points from behind the arc and junior Janeicia Neely paced her squad with six assists. Neely commands the assist category, averaging 4.35 assists per contest. Freshman Meghan Temple has tallied a team-high 15 blocks on the season.
Spring Hill (5-13, 2-8 SSAC) is coming off two straight losses including a three-point defeat by William Carey. Junior Bethany Collins is putting up 8.80 points per night. Freshman Camry Johnson secures the boards for the Badgers with 6.78 rebounds per game and notched seven stuffs on the season. Junior Elissa VandeWaa is averaging four assists and 1.72 steals per contest.
Loyola leads the all-time series versus Spring Hill, 20-14. The Wolf Pack is 10-0 against the Badgers under head coach Kellie Kennedy.
Tomorrow’s matchup between Loyola and Spring Hill is part of the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight program.
