(Kansas City, Mo.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s golf team received three votes in the most recent NAIA Women’s Golf Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. This marks the second time the the team has received votes this season.
Earlier this season, the Wolf Pack received 13 votes following their defeat of nine women’s squads in the Emmanuel Spring Invitational including then ranked No. 7 College of Coastal Georgia to earn their first tournament victory in program history. As a team, the women shot 346 on the first day of tournament action and improved to 342 on day two.
The Loyola University New Orleans women’s golf team will travel north to Omaha, Neb. for the 2014 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship on Tuesday, May 20 through Friday, May 23 at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club. They received an automatic bid to the tournament after finishing second in the SSAC Championship. The 144-player field consists of 18 automatic qualifying teams, independent or unaffiliated grouping tournament championship; eight at-large selections; one host berth—Doane (Neb.); and 10 individual qualifiers. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
