(Hattiesburg, Miss.) Loyola University New Orleans women’s golf competed in their second tournament of the season at the Carey Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Canebrake Country Club.
Freshman Julia Falco posted the best score for a tournament and a round in school history at the Carey Collegiate Classic as she shot an 89 in the second round of the tournament. She posted a first round score of 98 for a total tournament score of 187. She started day two in 26th place but her nine shot improvement moved her up the leaderboard to 22nd. She improved by 15 strokes over her first collegiate score of 202 which she posted at the Spring Hill Badger Invite on March 4th and 5th.
Junior Raven Richard posted a score of 264 in the Carey Collegiate Classic as she shot 129 in the first round and 135 in the second round. She finished 31st among the competitors from Kentucky, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
“This was a good building block for the future of Loyola’s program because we are improving as a team every time we head to the course. Julia shot 15 strokes better than she did two weeks ago. I think we will see even more improvement the next time out,” said Head Coach Lisa Tinkler.
The Wolf Pack will return to the course for action on Aprilon April 22nd and 23rd in Montgomery, Alabama, for the SSAC Championship Tournament.
