Loyola women’s hoops heads across town to face Dillard

(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will journey a short distance to face their next opponent as they take on crosstown rival Dillard University on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m in Dent Hall.

The Wolf Pack (5-3) sent Louisiana College home with a loss as they defeated the Wildcats 76-66. Junior Janeicia Neely paced the Pack with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists, going six for six from the free throw line and two for two from three point range. She leads the team in points and assists, averaging 16.5 and 4.13 per game respectively. Freshman Kylah Jones joined her in double digits, tallying 11 points. Junior Megan Whittaker and freshman Meghan Temple added eight points apiece. Senior Jasmine Brewer led the effort on the glass, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds. She steadies Loyola in boards, racking up 7.63 per contest, and ranks first on the squad in steals with 13.

Dillard (0-3) dropped a close game to Spring Hill on Tuesday evening, falling to the Badgers 52-57. Freshman Julia Hendrieth commands the scoring effort for the Bleu Devils, notching 11 points per match up. Sophomore Alena Evans is averaging a team best 8.33 rebounds and one block a night. Junior Brittany Smith has collected 11 assists and 10 steals for Dillard this season.

Loyola is 16-18 all-time versus Dillard, winning nine out of 10 under head coach Kellie Kennedy.
