Loyola women’s hoops seeks to avenge loss to SUNO

(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team looks to avenge their most recent regular season loss to Southern University New Orleans as they travel to take on the Knights Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in The Castle.

The Wolf Pack (6-5) fell to Tulane University 66-82 in an exhibition matchup on Sunday afternoon in the Devlin Fieldhouse, dropping a 63-70 contest to SUNO in The Den two days prior. Freshman Kylah Jones commanded the scoring effort for the Wolf Pack versus the Knights, turning in 14 points. Junior Janeicia Neely added 11 points and notched a team best five assists. She currently leads Loyola in both categories, averaging 15.73 points and 4.27 assists per game. Additionally, Neely has tallied 21 steals on the year. Senior Jasmine Brewer and freshman Meghan Temple recorded 10 points apiece versus SUNO. Brewer secured the boards with 10 rebounds. She’s averaging a team leading 7.73 rebounds per contest, while Temple pilots the season blocking effort with eight.

The Knights (3-2) take on Belhaven University this evening before their rematch with the Wolf Pack. Sophomore Victoria Davis is collecting 19.60 points per night, shooting 0.465% from the field. Junior Brandy Broome ranks first for SUNO in rebounds (39) and steals (20), while junior Shonte Dillon paces the passing effort, averaging four assists per game.
