(New Orleans, La.) The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team will return to The Den to host Belhaven University on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
The Wolf Pack (14-8, 8-4 SSAC) dropped a four-point decision to #15 Bethel University on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kylah Jones paced the Pack, notching career-highs in points and rebounds with 19 and five respectively. Senior Jasmine Brewer and junior Janeicia Neely combined for 26 points and eight rebounds. Brewer commands her squad in points per game (14.36), rebounds per game (8.00) and steals per game (1.77) while Neely is averaging a team-best 4.46 assists per contest. As a team, the Wolf Pack shot 40.3% from the field, 44.0% from three-point range and 68.4% from the line versus the Wildcats.
Despite the loss, Loyola has won eight of their last 10 contests. They received four votes in the most recent NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Pack ranks 11th in Division I in total three-point field goals made (155), 12th in three-point field goal percentage (35.5), 17th in total rebound offense (942), 17th in three-point field goals made per game (7.04), 20th in defensive rebounds per game (28.9), 20th in total steals (214) and 20th in total scoring offense (1,631).
The Blazers (9-13, 3-9 SSAC) slipped past William Carey University in a 63-60 victory on Saturday. Freshman Ariel Wilson was the top scorer for Belhaven, bucketing 24 points. She leads the scoring category for the Blazers, averaging 18.00 points per game. Senior Erika LeFlore is collecting an average 9.14 boards per contest. Junior Kenya Wright is dishing out 2.41 assists per game while junior TaShayla Steede is averaging 1.37 steals and 1.26 blocks a night.
Loyola leads the all-time series against Belhaven, 19-16.
