Loyola women grab four votes in latest NAIA poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team received four votes in the latest NAIA Women’s Division I Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

Loyola (11-4) currently sits at 34th in the NAIA. The ‘Pack picked up a win on Saturday over city-rival UNO, defeating the Lady Privateers 69-56 in The Den. Amy Sprout had career highs with 15 points and 13 rebounds. It was her third double double of the season, her second against UNO. Keivia Council was an assist shy of her own double double as she grabbed 10 rebounds and dished nine assists on the afternoon. Megan Berner added 13 points for Loyola.

Three SSAC East opponents were inside the Top 25, led by Lee University at No. 9. Southern Polytechnic State came in at No. 17 while Shorter University moved off the top 25 list to No. 26.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences. The next Top 25 poll will be announced on Jan. 17.

Loyola returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 13, against Jesuit rival Spring Hill at 5:30 p.m. in Mobile. Saturday, Loyola renews its rivalry with Xavier University as the Wolfpack will face the No. 18 Gold Nuggets in a non-conference match up in The Barn. Tip off for that tilt is slated for 5 p.m.
