Talladega, Ala- Loyola women’s basketball team remained perfect on the season with a 56-55 victory over Talladega College Saturday night at the Callahan Gymnasium.
Rachael Nolan led all scorers with 16 points and tied a career high with 12 rebounds for her first double double of the season. Keiva Council had 13 points, converting 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Amy Sprout added 10 points to round out the leaders for the Wolfpack (3-0).
For Talladega (1-3), Kiara Perry had 12 points to lead the Tornadoes. Loyola held leading scorer Ebony Richardson to only 8 points. She was averaging 17 on the season. The Tornadoes shot 44% from the field.
Loyola led 31-24 at half time and shot 42% from the field.
“Our defense and post play tonight were outstanding. Rachael Nolan and Amy Sprout did a great job for us in the paint. Our team defense was the difference for us tonight to be able to hang on and come out with a victory on the road,” said Loyola head coach Kellie Kennedy.
The Wolfpack returns to action on Monday at Concordia-Selma. Tip off is slated for 5 p.m.
