New Orleans, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans women’s tennis team hosted McNeese State at UNO on Saturday afternoon and were defeated 9-0.
In doubles action, Loyola’s No. 1 team of Claire Landry/Katie Beargie lost 8-1 to McNeese’s Victoria Martinez/Ralista Pirdopska. For the No. 2 match, the Wolfpack’s Hannah Neal/ Frances Bonnin fell 8-2 to Maria Frausto/Petra Gudelj. In the final match, Loyola’s Rachel Crump/ Frances Sweeney were shut out 8-0 against Kwynn Biggs/ Iiona Serchenko.
For singles, Landry was defeated 6-0, 6-1 against Pirdopska in the No. 1 match, and Neal fell to Serchenko 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2. For No. 3, Bonnin lost 6-0, 6-0 to Martinez, and Sweeney was defeated 6-0, 6-0 against Petra Gudelj. In the final two matches, Beargie lost 6-0,6-0 to Tea Tvrkovic and Crump fell to Inga Efimenko 6-0, 6-1.
Loyola (0-2, 0-1 GCAC) returns to the courts on Friday, Feb. 12 when they face Xavier (La.) at 3 P.M. on the Tulane tennis courts.
