(New Orleans, La.) After winning the Fifth Annual Loyola Wolf Pack Invitational, Loyola University New Orleans cross country teams will return to action for the LSU Invitational on September 21. The women’s team will run the Highland Park 5K course starting at 8:05 a.m. while the men will start their 8K race at 9:15 a.m.
The LSU Invitational will feature nine opponents for the Wolf Pack. Dillard, Jackson State, Jacksonville St., LSU, Mississippi College, New Orleans, Nicholls State, SE Louisiana, and Southern will be competing in both the men’s and women’s races while Delta State will only compete in the women’s race.
The Wolf Pack women’s team is coming off a dominating performance at the Wolf Pack Invitational where the team totaled 29 points, 24 less than the second place squad. The women’s team finished with four straight runners in the top eight led by Annie Hills’ time of 21:21.36. Hills was followed by Haley Milsark, Francesca Vaccaro, and Kennedi Henneberger. Denise Powell completed the scoring as she came in fifth place for the Pack and 13th overall.
The men’s team featured similar success as they took the team crown in a close three team race, outscoring William Carey by two points and Xavier by three. All five men finished in the top 20 as Michael Corso and Patrick Gallagher finished fifth and sixth, with times less than a second apart. Jonathan Malbrue took 12th, Henry Gerbracht finished in the 15th spot, and Alexander Morano rounded out the scoring with a 20th place finish.
