New Orleans, La.- Loyola women's basketball player Jasmine Brewer was named to the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight's honor roll for her performance on the hard wood last week.
Brewer, a 5-9 guard from Houston, led the Wolfpack to two victories last week, including an 80-68 victory over Jesuit rival Spring Hill. She averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals. She made 20 of 25 shots attempted from the field and converted 8 of 9 from the free throw line in two games.
Brewer has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games and has scored 20 or more points in a game six times this season.
Loyola (16-8, 4-3 SSAC) returns to action on Saturday in a pivotal conference match up against Faulkner (18-5, 4-2 SSAC). Tip off in Montgomery, Alabama, is slated for 2 p.m.
Out of the 28 Jesuit Colleges and Universities, Loyola is one of only eight schools to be undefeated in games against fellow Jesuit opponents. The Wolfpack defeated Spring Hill twice this season. Gonzaga (4-0) and Loyola-Maryland (4-0) are the only other schools that are undefeated and played more than one JBS game. Boston College, Creighton, Loyola-Chicago, Rockhurst and Xavier (OH) all are 1-0 against Jesuit schools.
