(New Orleans, La.)  Loyola University New Orleans head golf coach Lisa Tinkler announced Keith Burkard as the first signing to the newly formed men’s golf team for the 2013-2014 season.

“I could have not asked for a better person to be the first official signee for the men’s golf team,” said Tinkler, “Keith is not only a great student, but a wonderful golfer. I was able to watch him play this season. He has a marvelous disposition and attitude about the game of golf. He is a left handed player with a great short game. He exemplifies the type of student-athlete that I enjoy coaching the most- smart on and off the golf course.”

Burkard currently attends Ramsey High School in New Jersey. This past April, he finished 3 strokes out of 1st place at the Future Collegians World Tour in Deven, Massachusetts at the Red Tail Golf Club. In July, he defeated the #1 ranked player in the state 2 up in the New Jersey State Golf Association State Amateur at Baltusrol Golf Club.

He was awarded 2nd team All-American Golfer in the Future Collegians World Tour in 2012. Burkard’s freshman year of high school was spent at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy in Montverde, FL and was ranked #1 on the FCWT tour for his age group.
