(Montgomery, Ala.) Junior Megan Whittaker of the Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team was named to the 2013-14 Women’s West All-Divisional Team.
In her first year with the Wolf Pack, Whittaker made the 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete list, the SSAC All-Academic Team and started in all 35 games for Loyola. She paced the Wolf Pack from behind the arc with 103 three-pointers on the season and ranked second on the team in three-point field goal percentage with a 0.402. Whittaker ended the year ranked 2nd in Division I in total three-point field goals made, 6th in three-point field goals made per game (2.943) and 19th in three-point field goal percentage. Whittaker tallied a season-best 24 points via a career-high eight three-point field goals made in Loyola’s postseason defeat of Our Lady of the Lake, and broke a NAIA National Tournament record in the same game with 19 three-point attempts. She ended the season averaging 10.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Whittaker was one of 10 to make the Women’s West All-Divisional squad while Loyola junior Janeicia Neely and senior Jasmine Brewer were named to the previously announced SSAC All-Conference Team.
