NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team journeys east today to prep for their first major road test and conference games of the season.
The Wolfpack is currently 3-0 and coming off of a 65-39 win over cross-town foe Dillard University. Loyola can earn their first 5-0 start since the 2008 season.
Robert Lovaglio, Cameron Cates, and Corey Gray look to continue their early season success. Lovaglio is shooting 50% from field and averages 18.33 PPG and 8.67 RPG. Gray is shooting 42.1% from the three-point range and averages 17.33 PPG and 2.33 APG. Finally, Cates has three blocks on the season, and averages 10.33 PPG.
The Wolfpack first travel to Central, South Carolina to take on the 3-0 Southern Wesleyan Warriors inside Tysinger Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday. The Warriors are led by junior center Nikola Lambic (20.67 ppg) and junior forward Kenny Joyner (7.33 rbg). The contest marks the first time these two programs have squared off.
On Saturday, the ‘Pack venture to Cleveland, Georgia to clash with the 2-1 Truett-McConnell Bears at 4:00 p.m. CST. Last season, Loyola won 73-65, in the first encounter between the two. Guard Roderick Bombard leads the Bears in 22 points per game, while forward Tyron Louis averages 9 rebounds per game.
