NEW ORLEANS, La. – Loyola University New Orleans tennis head coach Zubin Engineer announced the signing of David Martin Mayhall, who will join the Wolfpack men’s tennis team in 2013.
“I am pleased David has decided to choose Loyola for his athletic and academic future,” Engineer said. “He will add great depth to our lineup."
Mayhall, a native of Mobile, Ala. is currently ranked no. 54 in 18s in the state of Alabama, but he has been ranked as high as no. 4.. In high school competition, he led the St. Paul’s Episcopal School to the 5A Regional Championship and finished runner-up in both singles and doubles as the no. 1 seed in the 5A State Championship. In 2009, he helped the Saints win the State Championship. He has been competing at the no. 1 spot since his sophomore season.
In addition, Mayhall also excels off the court. He is an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.
“David will be a great fit for our team,” Engineer added. “I expect him to improve rapidly in our program.”
