Men's Basketball Comes Up Short

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team falls to 4-2 on the season after losing 74-72 to SUNO inside The Castle. The Knights move to 1-2 on the year.

Robert Lovaglio scored 26 points tonight, which ties his season best performance last Friday against Southern Wesleyan. Lovaglio has now scored over 20 points in four of the six games this season. The sophomore also added eight rebounds and four assists to his season totals.

Furthermore, senior Corey Gray contributed a double-digit scoring performance, tallying 14 points on 6-11 shooting from the field. McCall Tomeny once again scored above his points per game average of 7.8, notching nine points tonight.

The ‘Pack shot 45.5% in the first half, 44.8% in the second, thus 45.2% overall. Loyola also shot 16.7% from beyond the arc and gave up 20 offensive rebounds to SUNO.

The Knights were powered by four double-digit scoring performances. Merlin Walker registered 19 points, Kevin Dukes with 13, and Anthony Jackson with 15. Clyde Moore earned a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The ‘Pack return to action in The Den November 26, at 2 p.m., when they host the Dillard Bleu Devils.
