Men's Basketball Goes For 2-0 Start

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team is looking to start 2-0 for the fourth consecutive season, this Thursday night at 7 p.m. in The Den.

The Wolfpack play host to St. Thomas University from Florida. The Bobcats travelled to The Den last season, where they won a high scoring affair of 90-85.

Coming off Sunday’s thrilling 68-70 loss to Tulane, sophomore forward Robert Lovaglio looks to keep the Wolfpack offense rolling this week. In the past two contests, Lovaglio has 43 combined points and 21 rebounds.

Furthermore, senior center Cameron Cates aims to secure his second double-double on the season, collecting 15 points and 12 rebounds against Carver Bible College.

St. Thomas University journeys to The Den with a 1-0 record. They previously defeated Barry University 86-68.

Last season the Bobcats achieved a 15-13 overall record, including a 6-5 road record. St. Thomas is a NAIA Division-II school that competes in the Sun Conference.

Guard Eugene Davis was their leading scorer last year, averaging 11.1 points per game and 2.32 assists. Center Everson Lacerda averaged 6.36 rebounds per game and gives them a height advantage at 6-11. Finally, 6-7 forward David Nesbitt led the team in rebounds and blocks last season with 7.04 per game and 27 total respectively.
