Men's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back Against SUNO

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team (4-1) will travel across town Tuesday evening to take on Southern University New Orleans (0-2). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Loyola looks to bounce back after they suffered a last minute 85-88 defeat to conference foe Truett-McConnell. The game saw a career day from Corey Gray, who scored a personal best 31 points. It also saw the emergence of McCall Tomeny, who scored a career high 12 points along with nine rebounds.

Points, rebounds, and assists leader Robert Lovaglio had a productive weekend road trip as well, raising his points per game average to 20.40 and his shooting percentage to 49.3.

Last year, the ‘Pack defeated the Knights in both the away and home contests, winning 70-52 and 96-95 in double overtime respectively.

The Wolfpack-Knights rivalry started in 1995 with SUNO enjoying the overall series lead 21-13. However, under eight year head coach Dr. Michael Giorlando, the ‘Pack are 10-5 against the cross-town opponent.

The Knights are looking for their first win of the season after losing 82-84 to Spring Hill and 66-73 to Mobile. Guard Clyde Moore powers the SUNO attack, currently averaging 18 points per game, with a field goal percentage of 63.2.
