NEW ORLEANS, La. – When friends and family gather on Thanksgiving Day, the Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team will also get together for a special event.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Wolfpack will serve dinner and spend time with the men and women of the Bridge & Grace House community. This marks the third year the basketball team has participated in this event.
The mission of Bridge House / Grace House is to provide gender specific treatment to men and women who have become dependent on alcohol or drugs so that they may lead sober and productive lives.
The Bridge/Grace House offers long-term residential services in an atmosphere that promotes dignity, honor, and respect. The services are offered regardless of one’s ability to pay.
“We are honored that Bridge House allows us to participate in their Thanksgiving dinner with their residents,” said head coach Dr. Michael Giorlando. “The best part of the day for our team is sitting down with the residents and just visiting with them. This is another great opportunity for our young men to give back to the community.”
The Bridge/Grace House is located at 4150 Earhart Blvd. in New Orleans. To learn more about their efforts or a way to contribute, please visit their website at bridgehouse.org.
