No. 24 Women’s Basketball Set to Face Lewis-Clark State

FRANKFORT, Ky.- The 24th ranked Loyola University New Orleans will make its second trip to the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship under head coach Kellie Kennedy as the Wolfpack faces Lewis-Clark State out of Idaho on Thursday, March 14 in Frankfort, Ky. Tipoff is slated for 9:45 a.m. CT.

The Wolfpack (23-5) earned the sixth seed in its quadrant of the bracket as one of 15 at-large selections while Lewis-Clark State (28-4) earned the No. 3 seed as the Frontier Conference Tournament Champion.

The two teams will tip off for the first time on Thursday with an audio broadcast on Loyola’s livestream channel at http://www.livestream.com/loyolawolfpack as well as a video broadcast provided by NeuLion. Senior guard Keiva Council looks to continue to lead the Wolfpack as she finished the regular season averaging 22.7 points per game, which currently ranks second in the NAIA. Most recently the 5-8 guard was selected as a WBCA All-American, the NAIA announced Tuesday. Council also ranks 3rd on Loyola’s all-time scoring list with 1,810 career points.

The tournament appearance is the ‘Pack’s fifth in program history, but its first since 2009. Lewis-Clark State is making its ninth appearance and its seventh in the last 10 years.

Lewis-Clark senior Jasmine Stohr leads the Lady Warriors with 19.4 points per game, which is sixth in the NAIA. She is also second on the team in assists (3.0 apg) and steals (2.4 spg). Senior Alyssa Fierro leads Lewis-Clark State in rebounds with 9.8 boards per contest.

The winner of Loyola vs. Lewis-Clark State will advance to face the winner of Lubbock Christian vs. LSU Shreveport on Friday, March 16 at 1:15 p.m. CT.
