NEW ORLEANS, La. – Logan Peterson pitched a complete game, giving up just one unearned run, but the Wolfpack fell to Thomas University on Friday, 1-0.
Ryan Scott reached base three times for the ‘Pack (4-7) and had a stolen base to pace the Wolfpack offense.
The Night Hawks (6-1) got on the board in the third inning when second baseman Alex Williams got aboard with a single with one out. Williams reached second on a Loyola error, and he was driven home by a Sergio Delgado double.
Loyola threatened to tie up the game a number of times. In the bottom of the fifth, Karson Cullins and Steve Daigle each reached base off of infield singles. In the seventh, Evan Turkish led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Eventually, he was stranded in scoring position.
The two squads will battle in a double-header Saturday afternoon, with the first game beginning at noon. The second game of Friday’s scheduled double-header will be played 30 minutes after the first game, as the contest was postponed due to inclement winter weather. Tickets are just $6, and Loyola students, staff and faculty can see the games for free.
