Robert Lovaglio Wins Capital One Academic Award

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Robert Lovaglio, of the Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball squad, was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District men’s basketball team for the District 4 region, College Division. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rewarded the sophomore for his outstanding work in the classroom and on the court.

Lovaglio is currently working on his bachelor’s degree in Business. To be nominated for this award, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Lovaglio is Loyola’s leading rebounder, averaging 7.56 boards, and the second leading scorer with 16.39 points per game. The talented forward from Winter Park, Florida, has now earned three awards this season, previously named to the Jesuit Honor Roll for his performances during the weeks of November 21-27 and February 6-12.

The Academic All-District player looks to guide the Wolfpack to victory this Thursday, when Loyola hosts division leader Belhaven inside The Den at 7:30 p.m.
