Shorter utilizes big innings in win over Loyola

Rome, Ga.- Shorter University scored 15 runs on 12 hits en route to a 15-2 victory over Loyola University New Orleans at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex on Friday afternoon.
 
Kurtis Robinson led the Hawk attack with two home runs and six RBI. His first homer came in a six run fifth inning to plate three runs and gave Shorter a 10-2 lead. Robinson added a two run shot in the sixth to extend the margin to 15-2.
 
Shorter (20-6) broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. A bases load walk by Robinson forced in the first run. After a sacrifice fly, Dadynoel Lorenzo provided the big blow with a three run double.
 
Hawk starter Brick Carter went five innings for the win. He gave up two runs on five hits and struck out five. Cody Hooper was 3 for 3 and Matt Johnson had two hits to lead at the plate.
 
Logan Peterson took the loss for the Wolfpack (9-16) in 4.1 innings of work. Ryan Scott and Karson Cullins each had two hits to lead the Loyola offense.
 
The series concludes with a double header on Saturday at the Ledbetter Complex. First pitch is slated for Noon Eastern Time.
