(Montgomery, AL) Loyola University New Orleans had six players honored for nine different awards as the Southern States Athletic Conference announced their awards selection at the conference tournament on February 28th.
Jasmine Brewer was the recipient of three awards for the Wolf Pack as she was named a Champion of Character and All-Academic in addition to being named to the All-Conference Team. The Junior from Houston, Texas finished the year averaging 13.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. She ranked 12th in NAIA Division I in offensive rebounds per game with 3.9 per contest and 44th in the country in total rebounds a game.
Janeicia Neely, Callie McNally, and Rebekah Greer were also named to the All-Academic team for the Wolf Pack. Greer, a Sophomore from Hammond, Louisiana, started all 25 games she played this season while averaging 8.4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. McNally is a Sophomore from Long Beach, Mississippi who averaged 3.5 points per game off the bench for the Wolf Pack.
Neely was also named to the All-Division team on the strength of her 11.3 points and 4 assists per tilt. The Sophomore from Kenner, Louisiana finished 29th in the country in total assists and 30th in assists per game.
Katie Youngblood and Shayne Charles were both named to the SSAC’s All-Freshman team. Charles started 13 games in her debut season out of New Iberia, Louisiana and averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds a night. Youngblood joined the Pack from Georgetown, Texas and averaged 5.6 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds nightly while setting a Loyola school record by shooting 86.1% from the free throw line, which bettered Carlee White’s previous high mark of 85.5% in 2002-2003.
Loyola completed their season by falling to Emmanuel 62-54 in the play-in round of the SSAC Championship Tournament which was played at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
