(New Orleans, La.) Steve Davis was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America this week. The senior from Wangi Wangi, Australia was one of six players selected to the District 4 All-Colleges team.
Davis earned First Team honors and is now on the Academic All-America ballot. Student athletes are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. CoSIDA honored 168 student-athletes from around the country including players from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools.
Davis is coming off his best game of the season after he scored 11 points, pulled down six rebounds, and blocked four shots against Auburn University Montgomery on January 31. Davis is playing in his second season with the men’s basketball team and averaging career highs with 5.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1 block per game.
Davis is a biology major who transferred to Loyola after two years at Lower Columbia College. He graduated from Newington College Prep in Australia where he lettered in basketball, volleyball and sailing. He was named to the SSAC’s All-Academic team in 2012.
