NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans men’s (0-2) and women’s (1-2) tennis teams scheduled match against the Louisiana College is cancelled due to inclement weather. A make-up match has been scheduled for Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. CT. The teams are still set to host Delta State on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Baker University on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT from the University of New Orleans Tennis Center.
Last weekend, the Wolfack women fell to 15th ranked Shorter, while the men also fell to the 10th ranked Eagles 0-9. No. 1 seed Meghan deBaroncelli competed very well, but eventually fell 1-6 in both sets. Katie Beargie also fought hard as the no. 2 seed but could not hold on as she dropped both sets 0-6. For the men, Brian Peña played solid as the No. 2 seed for the Wolfpack, but dropped his match in a close score of 2-6 and 4-6.
This is the first time Loyola has faced both Delta State and Baker. The Delta State women (4-4) are coming off a two-match losing streak while the men (3-4) won their last match at North Alabama. Both the Baker men (0-2) and women (1-2) are coming off back-to-back losses to Johnson Community College and Rockhurst.
