NEW ORLEANS, La- The Loyola University New Orleans men’s (0-3) and women’s (1-3) tennis teams each dropped their matchup against NCAA Division II opponent Delta State University on Saturday morning from the University of New Orleans Tennis Center. The women lost 1-8, while the men fell 0-9.
“Both teams had a good experience,” said head coach Zubin Engineer. “They played very hard and pushed themselves.”
For the Wolfpack women, No. 1 seed Meghan deBaroncelli played extremely well as she defeated her opponent, Maria Moya, 6-0 and 6-1.
On the men’s side, no. 1 seed Devon Belcher fought hard but fell in two sets 6-0 and 6-2.
Both teams return to action Sunday afternoon when they face Baker from the University of New Orleans Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m. CT.
