NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans men’s (0-1) and women’s (1-1) tennis teams scheduled matches again the University of Mobile and Spring Hill College are cancelled due to impending bad weather. A make up date has not been scheduled at this time. The teams are still slated to host Shorter University on Sunday at the University of New Orleans Tennis Center. The matches are will begin at 2 p.m.
In the Wolfpack women’s last outing on Feb. 11, LU defeated Louisiana State University (Shreveport) 8-1 but fell to the University of Mobile 1-7. The Wolfpack won all three doubles matches against LSU-Shreveport. As the no. 1 seed, Meghan deBaroncelli and Frances Bonnin defeated their opponents. The pairs of Katie Beargie and Christiana Krtalic decisively took down their adversaries 8-3 and 8-4. In singles play, Loyola dropped only four games in 14 sets. deBaroncelli, Caitlyn Chambers and Keene all earned straight set victories. Bonnin and Krtalic
dropped one game each while Beargie fell 5-7 and 3-6.
This is the first time Loyola and Shorter will meet. Both the Shorter men and women are coming off of wins over Emmanuel. The women defeated the Lady Lions 9-0 while the men won 7-2.
Saturday’s matches against the University of Mobile and Spring Hill are canceled due to potentially bad weather.
